What Is a Duct Cleanroom Panel?

A duct cleanroom panel is a pre-insulated sandwich board used to build HVAC air ducts for controlled environments. Instead of separate galvanized sheet metal plus add-on lagging, the panel combines a smooth, dust-free inner facing, a rigid insulation core and a galvanized perimeter in one board — cut, folded and joined into supply, return and exhaust ductwork. The result is an airtight, insulated, condensation-free duct with a clean internal airway.

Because the insulation is built in, there is no exposed fibre to shed into the airstream, and the smooth facing resists dust accumulation and is easy to wipe clean — important for the air feeding an FFU ceiling system and the rooms behind your cleanroom wall system. Core options let you tune insulation and fire performance to the project.

Expert FAQ on Duct Cleanroom Panels

Why use a panel duct instead of galvanized sheet-metal duct?

The insulation is built into the panel, so there is no separate external lagging, no condensation on cold-air runs and no exposed fibre in the airstream. It is much lighter than sheet metal, faster to cut and assemble, and gives a smooth, sealed, low-leakage interior — ideal for cleanroom air distribution.

Does it prevent condensation on cold-air ducts?

Yes. The rigid closed-cell core (λ ≈ 0.022–0.023 W/m·K) insulates the duct and keeps the outer surface above dew point, preventing condensation, with sealed joints maintaining the vapour barrier along the run.

What fire rating is available?

A PIR core reaches Class B1; for projects that require non-combustible ductwork we offer an A-grade mineral-core option. Third-party reports to EN 13501-1, plus ISO 9001 and CE, are available on request.

How clean is the inner airway, and does it leak?

The inner facing is smooth and dust-free with no exposed fibre, so it does not contaminate the airstream and wipes clean. Galvanized framing and sealed flanged joints keep air leakage low, helping maintain stable cleanroom pressure and airflow.

Can you supply any duct size and thickness?

Panels come in large boards cut to the duct cross-sections you need, in 25 / 50 mm standard or custom thickness, with PU or PIR core. Send your duct schedule and airflow and we will recommend thickness, core and framing.
