Soundproof panel

System Overview

A soundproof panel is an acoustic-insulation panel engineered to control noise transmission in industrial and commercial settings. A micro-perforated metal facing sits over a high-density mineral wool or fiberglass core in a sealed, layered construction, allowing the panel to both absorb sound energy (NRC / α) and block its transmission (Rw / STC) in a single build.

Available in customizable perforation patterns, thicknesses, and finishes, it dampens both airborne and impact noise while maintaining thermal and structural performance, integrating seamlessly with cleanroom wall and ceiling systems for laboratories, studios, and production areas. Key architectural advantages include:

  • Dual Acoustic Function: The perforated face absorbs sound energy to reduce echo, while the dense, sealed core blocks transmission to the adjacent space.
  • Tunable Core Performance: A non-combustible mineral wool or fiberglass core is matched to your target frequency, with Rw / NRC / STC ratings confirmed per configuration.
  • Sealed, Flanking-Free Construction: An aluminum edge frame and airtight joints prevent leaks that would otherwise short-circuit acoustic performance.

What Is a Soundproof Panel?

It is an acoustic-insulation panel designed to control noise transmission in industrial and commercial settings. Featuring a high-density core (mineral wool or fiberglass) behind a micro-perforated facing in a sealed, layered construction, it effectively dampens both airborne and impact noise. Available in varying thicknesses and finishes, it supports sound-sensitive environments such as laboratories, studios and production areas — improving acoustic comfort while maintaining temperature control. It integrates with our sandwich panel and ceiling systems.

Two Acoustic Functions in One Panel

Sound absorption (NRC / α)
The perforated face lets sound waves enter the porous core, where friction converts acoustic energy into a tiny amount of heat — reducing reverberation and echo inside the room. Performance is rated by absorption coefficient α (0 = reflective, 1 = fully absorptive) and NRC.
Sound insulation (Rw / STC)
The dense core and sealed, layered build resist sound passing from one side to the other. Following the acoustic mass law, a heavier, denser, well-sealed panel gives higher transmission loss — rated by Rw (or STC).

Panel Structure & How It Works

1 · Perforated facing lets sound enter; defines look 2 · Air cavity tunes low-frequency absorption 3 · Absorptive core + back plate mineral wool / fiberglass + sealed skin

Layered build-up: perforated facing → air cavity → high-density absorptive core → sealed back plate, held in an aluminum edge frame.

Absorb (NRC)

Waves pass the perforations and dissipate inside the core — less echo.

Block (Rw / STC)

Dense, sealed mass cuts how much noise crosses to the other side.

What Drives Acoustic Performance

Design variable Effect on noise control
Perforation rate / hole size Tunes which frequencies are absorbed; higher open area generally aids absorption
Core density Higher density improves both absorption and transmission loss
Panel thickness / air cavity Greater thickness and cavity depth extend low-frequency performance
Mass & sealing Per the mass law, heavier and airtight assemblies block more sound (higher Rw)
Joints & flanking paths Sealed joints prevent leaks that would otherwise short-circuit performance

Because every site has a different noise spectrum, we tune these variables to your target. Rw, NRC and STC values are confirmed per configuration — tell us your noise problem and we propose a build; third-party acoustic testing can be arranged on request.

Technical Insights & FAQ

What is the difference between sound absorption and sound insulation?

Absorption (rated by NRC / coefficient α) reduces echo and reverberation inside a room by soaking up sound energy in the core. Insulation (rated by Rw / STC) stops sound passing through the panel to the next space. This panel is designed to do both — the perforated face absorbs, while the dense sealed body blocks.

What determines how well it performs?

Mainly the perforation pattern, core density, panel thickness and air cavity, total mass and how well joints are sealed. We adjust these to target the specific frequencies of your noise problem.

Can you provide Rw / NRC / STC values?

These values depend on the exact build (facing, core, thickness, cavity). We confirm the rating for the configuration you choose, and can arrange third-party acoustic testing on request so you get verified data for your specification.

Does it handle both airborne and impact noise?

Yes. The layered, sealed construction dampens airborne noise (voices, machinery hum) and helps with impact noise; for structure-borne paths we also advise on isolation details at the fixings and joints.

Is it fire-safe and cleanroom-compatible?

With a mineral-wool core the panel is non-combustible, and its sealed surfaces integrate with our cleanroom wall and ceiling systems for sound-sensitive controlled environments.

What thickness, finish and size can I order?

Thickness, perforation pattern, finish/color and panel size are all customizable. Send us your room and noise details and we confirm the build and data sheet before production.
