What Is an HPL Cleanroom Panel?

An HPL cleanroom panel is a sandwich panel finished with High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) — a dense board of 40+ kraft-paper layers impregnated with melamine and phenolic resin, cured under heat and pressure. This surface is bonded to a configurable core (aluminum honeycomb, MgO or rock wool), giving a wall and ceiling panel whose defining strength is its facing: resistant to chemicals, scratching and impact, and stable in color because the decor runs through the laminate.

Unlike a painted steel skin, an HPL surface withstands frequent disinfection with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and bleach without fading, peeling or rusting — the reason it is specified for pharmaceutical and laboratory rooms. Choose the core to match fire and structural needs: an aluminum honeycomb core for a light, ultra-flat board, or a rock wool / MgO core for A-grade fire performance.

It also offers many colors and wood-grain finishes that painted steel cannot.

Which core can I have behind the HPL surface?

The HPL facing can be bonded to an aluminum honeycomb core for a light, ultra-flat board, or to a rock wool / MgO core for A-grade fire performance. We recommend the core based on your fire, weight and structural requirements.

What is the fire rating of an HPL panel?

Fire performance is driven by the core: with a rock wool, MgO or aluminum honeycomb core the panel reaches A-grade, and fire-rated HPL grades are available. We provide third-party test reports to EN 438 and EN 13501-1, plus ISO 9001 and CE, on request.

What colors and finishes are available?

A wide range of solid colors plus wood-grain decors, in matt or satin finish, with custom decor available. Because the color is integral to the laminate it will not fade or chip; a single project is matched from one production batch for consistency.

How flat are the panels and do they survive transit?

Panels are made to ≤ 2 mm/2 m flatness. For export they are stacked flat, film-wrapped with corner protectors and crated in plywood boxes for long-haul sea freight, with clear unloading and handling guidance to protect the HPL surface and edges.

What are the lead time and minimum order?
